Miranda Lambert took home gold at the 48th annual Country Music Awards held on November 5th 2014, winning single of the year, female vocalist of the year, musical event of the year and album of the year. She took home an armful of awards.

Receiving any sort of recognition from the Country Music Awards is a major honor, and all the recipients should be extremely proud. Lambert’s album “Platinum” took album of the year, or the most bought album in stores or on I-Tunes; as of November, it sold 550,400 copies. She now joins Little Big Town as the big winners of the Country Music Awards.

Its very unusual for a single singer to take home this many awards; it’s more common for a musical group to take that many home, but it’s still rare. Lambert taking home four awards shows how much effort she puts into her singing, how involved with the fans she is.

New to the country world is artist Brett Eldridge, taking home the CMA for new artist of the year. Being a new artist is hard enough on its own; to win a CMA for it shows the extraordinary work put into the singing.  Eldridge said on CMT, “Its every song I’ve written up to this point to get where I am now.”  This has been a life long journey for him; he’s been writing songs since he was little.

One of country’s most popular artists, Dierks Bentley, took home a CMA as well for music video of the year. His song ” Drunk On a Plane” showed Bentley heading out on a vacation drinking on the plane having a good time. The details in the video were spectacular, showing every little thing that was done.

Winning one of these awards relies on the fans. The nominees are chosen based on the number of votes cast. Then the Country Music Awards holds a press conference telling the public who the nominees for that year’s awards are. Next the people reviewing the votes eliminate the nominees with the least amount of votes, to make the categories smaller. At the awards ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee, they announce the winner of each of the twelve categories.
