Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said that the missiles are going to be delivered at any moment. The missiles are part of an $800 million contract proposed in 2007 but that was suspended three years later for opposition from United States and Israel. Peskov also said that the preliminary agreement on setting Iranian nuclear standoff made unnecessary the band.
“U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry objected to Moscow’s decision in a phone call to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. White House indicated the move could endanger plans to ultimately lift sanctions on Iran as part of a proposed nuclear deal,” Vladimir Isachenkov from the web page of The Big Story said.
The White House is worried and pressing the secretary Josh Earnest to dialing because nations like Russia are critical on the success of the nuclear deal negotiations. “The S-300 is exclusively a defensive weapon, which can’t serve offensive purposes and will not jeopardize the security of any country, including, of course, Israel,” Lavrov said.
The s-300 defensive missile system has a range of 200 km and the capability to search and take down multiple targets at the same time. Actually it is the most powerful defensive system.
The system is developed to take down aircraft and all kinds of air attacks. If Israel decides to attack this system is going to complicate the task.
Israel minister Yuval Steinitz and the cabinet criticized U.S lead on the nuclear agreement, saying that Iran doesn’t receive sanctions, “leaving its nuclear program largely intact,” as the web site mention. Israel still thinks that Iran is working trying to develop a nuclear weapon.
“This is a direct result of the legitimacy that Iran obtained from the emerging nuclear deal,” Steinitz said. “Instead of demanding Iran stop its terror activities that it spreads in the Middle East and the entire world, it is being allowed to arm itself with advanced weapons that will only increase its aggression.”
Lavrov argued that Iran needs defensive weapons because of the tension in the area, also that the ban was interfering with significant founds for the government. He adds that Russia canceled the delivery of the s-300 voluntary not by the U.N interference.
“Lifting the ban could also mark an attempt by the Kremlin to raise the heat on Washington and its allies and make them more willing to listen to Russian arguments in the Ukraine crisis,” Isachenkov said.
