In 2013, Bashar al-Assad committed a chemical attack on his own people, killing one-thousand Syrian civilians. Assad, in recent news has once again mounted a chemical attack against his people.

A poison gas attack in the town of Khan Sheikhoun has killed no less than 74 Syrian civilians. Within the 74 killed, there were 16 women and 23 children. 350 other Syrian civilians were hurt in this attack on April 4, 2017. Then hours later, Assad bombed a clinic that was treating the victims from the the chemical attack.

The U.S. Government says that this act is “heinous” and “reprehensible.” Press secretary Sean Spicer said, “These heinous actions by the Bashar al-Assad regime are a consequence of the past administration’s weakness and irresolution.”

President Donald Trump, in response to Assad’s chemical attack, launched 59 tomahawk missiles at a Syrian government airfield, from which the chemical attack was launched. The Pentagon’s spokesman Capt. Jeff Davis said, “As always, the U.S. took extraordinary measures to avoid civilian casualties and to comply with the Law of Armed Conflict.”

Many people want Bashar al-Assad to be removed from his position as the dictator of Syria. Many want to end his reign of terror over Syria.
