There are millions of hunters all over the world. Unfortunately, one hunter fell victim to an elephant that had been shot. Hunters can hunt small game which includes squirrels or big game which includes deer or both. This hunter was a big game hunter.

Theunis Botha is an individual who was leading a group of individuals near the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe on Friday. During their adventure an elephant started to storm the group. The elephant that was storming them was shot. When the elephant was shot she fell on top of Botha killing him. Both the elephant and Botha died during this incident.

Botha, when he died, was 51 years old and had five children. Him and his children are from northern Limpopo province in South Africa. According to BBC News, “His eldest daughter Marike confirmed her father’s death to the BBC, but would not comment further on the circumstances of his death.”

Theunis Botha had his own website. On his website he would organize hunting safaris on private ranches, starting in 1989, to those who signed up. Botha mainly hunted lions and leopards, most of the time with dogs. According to BBC News, “His website lists various packages available to hunters in Zimbabwe, nothing the animals including leopards, giraffes, buffalo and elephants could be hunted.”

According to BBC News, “Zimbabwe-based Kuronda Safaris called him ‘a great man with a fantastic sense of humor’.” An individual by the name of Scott Van Zyl was friends with Botha. Van Zyl was killed last month by a crocodile. His remains were found within the crocodile’s mouth.
