The Call of Duty franchise is well known across the United States and even globally. In terms of a single video game franchise that takes over the world virtually, “Call of Duty” is high on the list. Call of Duty is a first-person shooter which allows you to play in the soldier eyes and take control of them. There have been around nine core COD games, but the one game that will be highlighted will be “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.”

On Nov. 10, 2009 a divine video game was released to the public. “Modern Warfare 2” was one of the most, if not the most anticipated game of all time. Countless hours upon days upon months were spent playing this game. You might ask, “Why is this game so special and different to all the ones prior?” This question can be answered by any true “Modern Warfare 2” fan. There are a few simple answers to this question. First off, the customization. In “MW2” the amount of customization competing with the original “Modern Warfare” is tremendous. Through various challenges, you are able to “pimp-out” your equipment with Red Dot sights, Silencers, Extended Magazines, and even mounted grenade launchers. Not only are you allowed to pick your equipment according to your play style, you’re also able to change the visual appearance of your guns though different camos in which you un-lock through more challenges.

Another answer to this question of why “MW2” is the best COD and FPS of all time was its community. “MW2″‘s public community was the most active COD game by far. You could get on at any time of day, plug your mic in and have close to instant conversation with random people that could turn into lifetime friends. There have been many moments when you hop on the game, see if anybody has a mic, and slowly but surely the whole lobby would become active and everybody would be communicating. This might seem like not that big of a factor, but I promise you if this wasn’t a part of the game, the amount of success “MW2” had wouldn’t even be close to what is it.
