National level racing is coming to our area on June 1 and June 2. The Grand National Cross Country is coming to Odessa, New York and so are a lot of racers. The Tomahawk that is presented by Dunlop Tires will be held on Carley Rd in Odessa, NY on the land that local series NYOA runs the historic Seneca Highlands race on. The races start at 8 a.m. sharp June 1 and they will continue throughout the day with all the ATV races with the pros starting at 2:30 a.m.
A little background of the GNCC Series is that it is a 13 round race season that starts in the beginning of March and continues to July then has a summer break and resumes in September with the Black Sky race which takes place in Harpursville, NY. The GNCC series races up and down the east coast and has all the national level riders competing for a #1 plate at the end of the year. NYOA will co-sanction this event and allow local racers to show the Pro riders what a local series has to offer when it comes to competition.
The Tomahawk will consist of both Dirt bikes and ATVs racing and will also allow for a big spectating party that takes place Saturday night. The race length will consist of 10-11 miles of backbreaking hard-core racing that will test the limits of riders of all ages from 5 to 70 year olds. The GNCC series will continue to Snowshoe Mountain in West Virgina in two weeks from this weekend’s race.
